Description

Mask of a goddess. A veil draped low on the forehead with a double notched hem covers the hair. Small disc earrings. Two holes on the calotte above the forehead served for suspension.
Serious historical expression already indicates the beginning of the early classical style. The intended use of these masks were votive offerings in sanctuaries.

Detailed description

Aus mehreren Stücken zusammengesetzt, geklebt. Es fehlen auf der rechten Gesichtshälfte das Ohr, der herabhängende Schleier. Unterhalb des Halses gebrochen. Linke Schläfe mit einem Teil des Auges ergänzt, ausgeplatzte Ränder der Bruchkanten am linken Ohr, über der Stirn und an der rechten Schläfe ergänzt und getönt.
