Description

Schulterstück. - Der Maler Wilhelm Ahlborn lebte zunächst von Oktober 1827 bis November 1831 in Rom. Im Herbst 1841 kehrte er aus Berlin, wo er 1833 zum Katholizismus konvertierte, nach Rom zurück. Bis zu seinem Tod lebte er teilweise in Rom und Florenz. Als Konvertit ist er auf dem Campo Santo in Rom begraben. 1829 gehörte Ahlborn zu den Mitgründern des römischen Künstlervereins. Zwei Porträtzeichnungen Ahlborns von der Hand Kestners sind überliefert. Diese wurde 1832 angefertigt. (AVS)
