Description

Animal figurines were very common in the 5th century BC. They represent votive gifts to the gods or grave goods. The dove symbolises Aphrodite.

Detailed description

Oberteil aus der Matrize, Unterseite und Füße handgeformt und angefügt; hohl. Die Federn der gesenkten Flügel und des Schwanzes plastisch angedeutet. Taube mit kurzen Beinstümpfen. In Anlehnung an rhodische Vorbilder geschaffen.
