Description

The relief fragment shows a frontal standing male figure wearing Egyptian costume and a theatre mask, as well as 8 of a total of 22 hieroglyphs distributed over the rest of the picture field, some of which are arranged in the wrong orientation.
On the reverse of the relief we find a workshop stamp indicating an "OFFICINA DOMITIANA". (AVS)

Detailed description

Linker Teil einer Platte. Auf der linken Seite gerader Abschluss. Platte oben begrenzt durch einen Halbstab, darüber Lotus-Fries. Das Bildfeld wird von einem Streifen umrahmt, der zum rechten Plattenrand hin spitz-dreieckig zulaufen würde. Im Bildfeld dargestellt ist ein auf einer Plinthe stehender Schauspieler mit Maske und quer über den Rumpf verlaufendem Schurz. Die Arme hat er vor dem Oberkörper zusammengenommen. Links neben ihm Hieroglyphen (von oben nach unten): s-Hieroglyphe (Peitsche), Strich; rechts neben ihm Hieroglyphen (von oben nach unten): n-Hieroglyphe, sw-Binse, Biene, f-Hieroglyphe, unbekanntes Zeichen, nb-Zeichen (auf dem Kopf), b-Zeichen (auf dem Kopf).
