Beschreibung

Amymone in conversation with Poseidon. The Danaide stands in three-quarter view from the front, dressed in a sleeveless chiton with overfall, which lies in soft folds on the standing leg hip. The standing leg is covered by straight pleated panels, while the thigh of the playing leg stands out vividly through the smoothly laid fabric. The lowered head is covered by a cloak which falls over her shoulder and which she grasps at the level of her face. In her other lowered hand she holds a hydria. Poseidon, naked and bearded, is in profile facing her. He has placed one foot on a boulder, his upper body bent forward and rests one arm on the raised leg. In his hand he holds the trident, which forms a diagonal in the picture. The other arm rests on his back and is wrapped in a robe, one end of which rests on his shoulder. His body is strongly modelled. Baseline.
