Description

The archaic-looking woman sits in a calm posture on a low armchair with a foot plate. She is dressed in a smooth-fitting chiton with a himation thrown over it, which falls in stiff folds at the knees. On her head she wears a kind of calathos. Her right hand is on her knee, with her left she holds a swaddled child on her knee.
Modern imitation or forgery of Eastern Greek statuettes of the 7th to 6th century BC (AVS).
