Description

Although the state of preservation of this bowl is comparatively poor - large parts of the vessel wall and the handles are missing - the motif on the outer rim of the bowl is something special. Both depictions between the handles show maenads sitting on stools facing each other with drinking horns in their hands. A satyr prances between them.
The combination of seated maenads and satyrs is very rare in vase painting. (AVS)
