Description

The motif is associated with the inheritance and adoption ring that Caesar left to his heir Octavian shortly before his assassination. The 'ring' is found in various combinations of symbols on gem images. (AVS)

Detailed description

Fingerring, in dessen Reif ein Hase liegt. Darüber ein jugendlicher Männerkopf - vielleicht Octavian - im Profil zwischen zwei Füllhörnern. Zu Seiten des Ringes je eine Ähre, unter ihm zwei gekreuzte Hände.
