Description

Complete and unbroken, i.e. intact, preserved example of Roman glass (blowing) art. - Vessels of this type were also used in the household for preserving fruit, fish and for making sour milk. In addition, the Romans used a special form of olla, the olla ossuaria, which was used to hold the ashes of the deceased. This specimen probably originates from this context. (AVS)
