About the collection
The basis of the museum's collection, which goes back to August Kestner, includes around 2,000 antique and also post-antique cut stones (gems, glass pastes, cameos) as well as a number of so-called dactyliotheques. This collection was expanded by individual purchases and donations after the museum was founded. (AVS)
